Rare cup with vertically pierced strap handle broadening at the level of two apotropaic eyes. The rounded bowl with an almost vestigial rim. Enhanced with delicate geometric design, lines and bands. Large hand-modeled Boeotian centaur with raised arms. Vivid rendition of the male head with pointed beard, prominent nose, neatly impressed eyes and wild hair. The elongated body of the horse with remains of white pigment and red varnish stripes. The color decoration is reminiscent of the 7th century BC Boeotian production.
