Part of the outside enhanced with blue color to give the vase a metallic appearance. Bottom and inside reserved. The shape is known from the Levant. Ceramic. The handsome face is rendered with half open eyes, a straight fine nose and well defined purse lips. A raised urna is positioned above the arched eyebrows. The wavy hair is parted over the forehead and topped by a richly ornamented crown. The head burst off from a larger statue. Grey schist. Gandhara, 2nd/3rd century AD. Large North Greek bronze neck piece of triangular form with slightly raised rectangular collars off-setting the tapering hooked terminals. The front embellished with carefully incised and stamped ornament. A large wheel enclosing a rosette at center, the zones between the six petals stippled. Stamped concentric circles evenly distributed in the remaining field, all enclosed within a double border of hatched triangles. The vessel features a low, vertically ribbed body on a high foot, a single loop handle and a tall flared spout extended upwards at shoulder. On the medallion a young man riding on a hippocamp – a prancing horse with a coil up spiny fish tail. The youth is wearing a short tunic and holding a scabbard or a torch. The graceful depiction reminds of Tarentine coins with the young Taras riding on a dolphin.
