Small pair of feet with incised details of the footwear. Rendered as amulets or pendants with drilled suspension holes at the ankles. Calcite. Sumerian, around 2100-1700 BC. L. 1.9 cm (0.75 in) and 1.6 cm (0.6 in) Good quality objects with neat incisions. One suspension hole broken off, the surface of the second foot slightly worn. Swiss public auction.

Calcite amulet in the shape of a miniature mace with three stylized heads. The eyes rendered with drilled holes, the faces framed with incised lines. Djemdet Nasr is a Mesopotamian site located north-east of Babylon and Kish. Calcite. Protosumerian, Djemdet Nasr Period, early 3rd millennium BC W. 2.7 cm (1.1 in). Two heads partially worn. Superb Luristan dagger with rare handle showing a pair of recumbent felines holding an ibex in their mouths. The predators with prominent eyes and ears, their tails with raised tags resting on their backs. Bronze. Luristan Bronze Dagger with Felines, around 1000 BC. L. 19.5 cm (7.7 in). Very expressive Anatolian female sphinx with the body of a recumbent lion with short forepaws, the tail turning over the right haunch. The female head showing a receding forehead, large eyes, heavy asymmetric cheeks and full lips. Tresses to both sides of face and queue down the neck. For a related example in bronze cf. Ghandara stucco head of Buddha with elegant featured visage. The heavy lidded eyes below arched brows, an aquiline nose and bow shaped mouth. The spotted hairdo is gathered in a topknot. Pakistan, Gandhara style, 3rd century AD. H. 13.7 cm (5.4 in), H. with stand 19.5 cm (7.66 in). Superb modeling. Broken at the neck level. Surface pitted in places. Very expressive and of excellent quality. Ex German art market.

Embossed disk with a central protrusion surrounded by a chain of buds. Small chiseled flowers in the field. Luristan, 8th-7th Century BC. H. 23 cm (9 in), W. disk 9.7 cm (3.8 in). Very good condition with nice patina. Two small corroded holes on the disk, otherwise intact. Point of the pin bent for suspension. Ex Swiss art market.
