Egyptian Shabti of Mer-Neith-ites, 525-362 BC

Green faience shabti with three hand-carved lines of hieroglyphs reading: 'Words spoken by the Osiris Mer-Neith-ites, daughter of Sema-taui-irdisu, born to Ta-nedjed'. Museum quality and condition with delicate modeling. Broken at the calf level and reattached. A shabti of Mer-Neith-ites from a Zurich private collection (not this) published in Schlögl/Brodbeck (1990). An erroneously assigned shabti of Mer-Neith-ites sold at Cahn’s Münzen und Medaillen, auction 63, June 1983, lot no. 120. Faience. Late Period, 27th-30th Dynasty, 525-362 BC. H. 12.5 cm (4.9 in). Very fine with nicely shaped hieroglyphs and delicate modeling. Broken at the waist level and reattached. Lips slightly damaged. Swiss private collection (references/data will be provided to the buyer).
