Black-glazed Attic Mug, 500-480 BC
Black-glazed Attic mug with thin flaring rim lip, curved wall slightly offset from the bulged foot. Low strap handle. The flat underside reserved bearing a small circle at center.
For a similar shape cf. item no. 191 in: B.A. Sparkes, L. Talcott. The Athenian Agora. Black and Plain Pottery. Princeton 1970.
Greek, from Athens, 500 to 480 BC.
H. 7.4 cm (2.9 in).
Intact and of pristine quality. Lustrous black glaze with much etched root marks.
