Roman Glass Sprinkler, 3rd/4th century AD
Roman sprinkler vase (Gutturnium) of spherical body. The glass was blown into a mold with lattice-work type design, the ridge of the mold’s two halves is still discernible. The tall neck with the flared rim was applied separately. Mold-blown, pale green glass. Roman, Eastern Mediterranean, 3rd/4th century AD. H. 7.8 cm (3 in), D. 6 cm (2.3 in). Intact. Some sinter and soil deposits. German art market.
