| Collected from throughout the Turkish countryside, these beautiful earthen-ware vessels were used 75 to 150 years ago to store grains, olives, oils, and prepared foods. Often buried to preserve their contents at cooler temperatures, they could be found in small Aegean and Mediterranean villages. From the smallest pitcher to the largest oil jar, each is unique in shape, color, and texture. Many come with a seal of antiquity. A simple utilitarian object that is appreciated today as folk art. This listing shows our current stock of very large jugs that would be great in doors or out. These two handled olive jars with brownish green drip glaze measure between 20" to 30" tall and measure 15" to 19" wide from handle to handle. Notice the yardsticks standing behind the jugs in the image for size reference. We have several other sizes currently listed on our web site and many others currently in stock. | ||
