| Collected from throughout the Turkish countryside, this beautiful earthen-ware vessel was used 75 to 150 years ago to store grains, olives, oils, and prepared foods. Often buried to preserve their contents at cooler temperatures, olive jars could be found in small Aegean and Mediterranean villages. From the smallest pitcher to the largest oil jar, each is unique in shape, color, and texture. Many come with a seal of antiquity. A simple utilitarian object that is appreciated today as folk art. This lamp has been custom designed out of a nice one handled jug. It is shown here with an oiled paper shade, but other options are available. It measures 23" tall to the top of the shade, and the shade measures 16" in diameter. The jar itself measures 10 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" at its widest point. PLUS: We have many different sizes, colors and shapes currently in stock. We also have several other sizes currently listed on our web site and many others currently in stock. | ||
