| Collected from throughout the Turkish countryside, this beautiful earthen-ware vessel was used 75 to 150 years ago to store grains, olives, oils, and prepared foods. Often buried to preserve their contents at cooler temperatures, olive jars could be found in small Aegean and Mediterranean villages. From the smallest pitcher to the largest oil jar, each is unique in shape, color, and texture. A simple utilitarian object that is appreciated today as folk art. The condition of these jugs varies. Remember, these were used and imperfections are expected. Please rely on the image for chips and flakes because there is a dime size chip on this piece; none are cracked or repaired. These pieces can be custom designed as a great looking lamp. Jugs with solid glazing are less common. There are hints of Green, Yellow and Brown in this great looking jar which stands 15" tall and is 9 " wide. | ||
