This Charming "Pretty in Pink" Oil on Canvas is in Excellent Condition,c1990's. A native Texan, Carol Slobin was born in Houston, and recently moved her home and studio to Sugar Land, Texas. Carol attended the University of Texas and graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Carol has developed a body of work rich in still-lifes, figures and landscapes. Her approach to any subject is the same - to excite the viewer and to impart a glimpse of her perspective on life. Her love of nature and the beauty of any scene whether complex or mundane is the inspiration by which she paints. Luminous color, light and shadow, and a dynamic composition are often the driving force behind a finished painting. Oil and watercolor are the mediums that she has found to be most rewarding and challenging. The painterly effects of wet into wet (alla prima) oil painting, and the luminous glazes and spontaneity of watercolor are the appealing qualities that attract Carol to paint in those two mediums. Carol has been inspired by Sargent, Homer, Velasquez, and Sorolla among others. She studied watercolor painting with Marge Brichler, life drawing with Jose Perez, and portrait painting with Lajos Markos. Through the years, she has attended workshops that included Daniel Greene, Robert Wood, Judi Betts, Dan Burt, Carl Dalio, John Asaro, Bob Rohm, Ann Templeton, Dan Gerhartz, David Leffel, and Matt Smith. Carol has achieved elite signature status in the Watercolor Art Society - Houston and has been the recipient of numerous awards. Her oil and watercolor paintings are included in many private and corporate collections throughout the United States. Carol conducts a weekly drawing and painting class in Houston. She demonstrates and gives workshops at various organizations in the Houston area. She has also juried multimedia shows and watercolor exhibitions in Houston. A gifted teacher, she motivates her students through her own personal and artistic vision and achievements. Measuring 22 X 28 inches the painting is unframed.
