A very nice Mesopotamian terracotta incantation bowl excavated in southern Babylon and dated to the 6th century AD. The bowl measures 6.5 cm in height with a circumference of 48 cm and a diameter of 15.3 cm. Aramaic characters surround the inside of the bowl and the figure of a demon is on the inside bottom. A beautiful Egyptian mummified falcon measuring 19.5 cm in length with a thickness of 4.9 cm and 5.7 cm wide. This was a young bird and is dated to the Late Dynastic Period, 664 - 332 BC. The linen wrappings are a dark brown color and some of the talons and wing bones are protruding from the linen. The bowl was excavated in Israel is is dated to the Middle Bronze Age, ca. 1850 - 1550 BC, the time of the Patriarchs. The gritty clay is a buff color and the remains of a red slip are quite visible.
