Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220 A.D.) narrow-necked vessel with dark brown glazed ovoid body. Two large opposing handles attatched to vessel's center. Height 6.6" (16.8 cm). Geometric incised single band pattern surrounds the vessel's perimeter. Vessel is supported on an unglazed open network lattice base probably designed to enclose hot cinders used for heating liquid in vessel. Transverse crack with an early repair, otherwise in good condition.

Song Dynasty globular ablution bottle also known as jingping or kundika. Incised sgraffito peony motif on finely-cracked creamy white slip. Background is filled with brownish-grey slip applied to the ceramic body. Some glaze missing from elevated areas. See "Tz'u-chou Type Wares, 960-1600 A.D." by Yukata Mino, group 3. Ablution bottles were used in ancient China and Korea as part of Taoist purification or cleansing ceremonies using the "water of life". "Washing at dawn Rinse away dreams.

Beautiful Song Dynasty ovoid-shaped garlic head vase supported on a short foot. Peony motif inciced on white slip revealing underlying brownish-grey ceramic body. Slip layer shows fine network of cracks while ceramic body reveals numerous particuate inclusions.

Elegant pear-shaped Song Dynasty Cizhou vase with dished mouth supported on a short foot. Unusual decoration having a floral and bird motif. Incised white slip reveals underlying grey clay body. White slip shows original cracking during firing as well as wear due to age of the piece.
