A lovely wine pouring vessel from the Greek colony of Gnathia (today called Ignazia) in the Apulian region of southern Italy. Dating to about 300 B.C., nicely decorated in traditional Gnathian patterns of grapevines, delicate flowers, "S" and "V" patterns in yellow, white and red pigments. 5-1/2"H, handle repaired, but otherwise choice. Ex-private Arizona Collection and acquired at a London auction in the 1970's.
