| Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this South Italian Detailed Head of an ancient Greek goddess. This is a very rare piece that has tremendous historical significance. This head is of a woman, possibly Aphrodite, one of the most important goddesses in Greek history. In this depiction, the very detailed hair, eyes, nose, mouth, etc. are very splendid. Even the braids in Aphrodite's hair are exceptionally clear. It stands a very sizeable 2.5" in height. This piece, found in Sicily, is a nice change of pace from the usual Greek pottery that is available for collections. This adds an entirely new dimension to a Greek collection. In addition to the size and beauty of this artifact, it also comes from a very important U.S. Collection. This piece has excellent provenance as part of a very important New York collection.
