Chinese CHIZOU white slip decorated stonewear EWER, SONG Dynasty with its trumpet neck, handle and spout covered with a white clay slip beneath a colorless glaze, the rim now bound with copper, the canted foot finished with a recessed base. Cizhou wares were usually thrown on a wheel which was made from a large and heavy stone and marks on the wares indicate that they were thrown very quickly. Japanese porcelain underglaze porcelain Blue & White TRUMPET VASE with a Hoo bird and peony & other flowers design and a floral design inside the spreading mouth of the vase. Condition is fine, but there is a small "kami-kizu" or "kiln crack" about 1 inch or 2.5 cmm in length near the base. It is hardly noticeable. Circa: Late 17th C. Height is 9 5/8 inches or 24 cm. Purchased @ Christie's in London. Part of an exhibit in the Kyushu Ceramics Museum.

Japanese porcelain CHAIRE (green tea container) with a stag horn lid and silk bag and kiriwood box with two Kangi (letters). This beautiful undamaged Chaire is finely potted with a swirl on the unglazed base (picture #5) and a very subtle brownish colored glaze applied as highlights over a black background overall. Height is 2 15/16 inches (7.5 cms.) Late Edo era, 1890's.

Chinese porcelain Quingbai baluster JAR well modelled with a crackled creamy-blu glaze sitting on a slightly inverted narrow footrim. The base is glazed (& nicked) and there is a half-silver dollar shaped (& size) firing crack in the base. Condition is fair. Japanese BIZEN flower VASE in the form of a monkey holding a banana-like fruit seated beside a tree stump. Clearly defined and interesting facial features. Typical brown Bizen-ware glaze; but with a beautiful aged patina! Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or restorations. Height is 6 inches. Circa early Taisho, pre- 1920.

Large, 22.5" (57cms.)in height, CHINESE, VASE in baluster form. The elongated body and neck covered with a glaze of sang-de-boeuf dripping with iridescent purple, thinning to a cream tone to the edges of the flaring rim. Brown wash on the base where there is a small firing crack that does not show through on the inside. No other damage of any kind. Ships in a more than 100yr. old kiri-wood case.
