Japanese Blue & White Porcelain PLATE with deep scalloped edge. There is a coastal scene will hills and trees and ship at sea with an interesting bridge in the foreground. Condition: Overall good, but there is a hairline crack about 2.5" long (at the 10 o'clock position, between the boat and the mountains.) and a small "kama-kizu" (kiln imperfection) Circa: 1880-1899. Diameter is 11.25 inches.

PAIR of Blue & White Japanese porcelain PLATES depicting an older Monk standing with a younger playful apprentice behind his back. All skillfully rendered in underglaze cobalt blue. There is a scrolling floral motif on the back of each plate. Condition: there is a rim chip on each plate, one with a resultant 3/4" hairline crack. Circa: Meiji era, 1868-1912. Diameter is 7.5 inches.

Oversize Japanese SETO STONEWARE SAKI BOTTLE, with Cork, in an ash-wood crackle glaze, pale green-cream color. This is strikingly well potted, with a 1 inch long glaze crack on the neck. Otherwise, the condition is excellent. Height is 14 inches with a diameter of approx. 10" at the widest point. Cork is 3.25" x 2". Circa: 1890-1920.

The pictures do NOT unfortunately do justice to the subtle, SHIBUI beauty, of these small vases. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks, repairs or any other problems. Circa: 1890-1910. Height is 5" with a 4" diameter at the shoulder.

A Round COPPER water BASIN from a Buddhist Temple in Japan. Beautifully crafted with Buddhist medallions spaced around the outside rim and a flaring base with three interesting cutouts. This art is suitable for both indoor and outside fountains or bird baths! Condition: there is one small 1 inch repair to the outside rim which is hardly noticeable! Dimensions are a diameter of 17.5 inches and a height of 9.5" Circa: 1880-1910.

A humorous depiction of the Japanese ZEN Buddhist priest who meditated in China in the mountains for 7 years, till he lost the use of his legs. Seal marked by artist (see enlargement #4) The ends of the scroll are ivory and there is the original kiri wood box. Condition, some slight wrinkles which are primarily in the border, with one in the moon behind Dharuma. The colors are vibrant. Circa, 1880-1890's. Japanese wooden, blacklacquer Butsudan containing a RARE STANDING BUDDHA in Vitarka mudra; with an mandorla of swirling clouds and shining light. The Buddha figure is in perfect condition, no breaks or repairs. The bronze engraved hinges and clasps are original and in perfect order. Beautiful faded golden patina. The black lacquer of the case is in an unrestored condition with no loss or chips. There is some fading to the sides and back of the case. Height is 9.5 inches.Circa: Meiji era.

Japanese SCROLL PAINTING on silk, of the classic rocky crags and cliffs surmounted with pine trees shaped by the coastal winds, with boats bobbing on a placid bay, a wooded rocky island,followed by the distant mountains which fade into infinity! Rare, unusual large (16" in height x 15 inch diameter)Japanese WOOD and LACQUER DHARUMA HEAD BUDDHIST SCULPTURE. This was made as a MOLD for making large paper mache Dharuma heads. These paper mache heads were then painted red, white and black. One of the white eyes would be filled in with black by the owner of the new paper mache head, and a wish was made. One Complete set (5 bowls and lids ) of Japanese orange LACQUER BOWLS and LIDS. The covers are beautifully painted in gold with peony flowers and leaves with a single Shibui butterfly. There are some small chips on the edges of some of the bowls and lids, but the condition is very good overall. Suitable for use as a "miso soup" bowl or as a decorative accent. Circa 1900-1920. Height with lid is 3.5" and diameter is 4.5 inches.
