SOLD - from Christie's Beverly Hills,CA "Asian Works of Art" Sale, October 5, 2000, Lot #192.  

This Incense burner (censer) of squat proportions with a slightly everted rim and two stylized fish handles to the side is a grey buff stoneware with a blue-grey glaze, what the Chinese call "ge-yu." Kangxi period (1662-1722) This item was bought in Christie's "Asian Works of Art," auction, 10/5/2000 in L.A. Lot # 192, page 53. 5.75 inch diameter, or 14.6 cms. This is a Japanese (faithfully and skillfully) executed reproduction of a Chinese Fukien 15th Century CENSER (filled with sand and used on a Buddhist alter to burn incense.) The soft cream colored crackle glaze is well applied and covers about 70-80% of the footrim. The color is actually more white-cream than the bluish tinge in the photo. Bottom is unglazed. Chinese conical shaped stoneware TEA BOWL with a "Mule's Liver," glaze. Diameter is 4 3/8 of an inch x 2 inches in height. Condition is very good with some typical glaze imperfections during firing. Circa: 16th-17th century, late Ming Dynasty.

Chinese conical stoneware TEA BOWL with an iridescent glaze from the late Ming Dynasty. Excellent condition except for some slight scratching of the glaze inside the cavetto; but no chips, cracks, fritting or restorations. Height is 1 7/8 inch and the diameter is 4 1/2 inches.(4.8 x 11.4 cms.) Circa: 16th-17th Century.

A Chinese stonewear, CIZHOU, SGRAFFITO cream-glazed LOTUS PILLOW; all enclosed within a double brown circle. The base is not glazed. Condition is good, but there are two hairline cracks on the design, one is 4.5" the other 2.5" in length.
