Japanese Blue and White porcelain covered BOX (with lid)with very finely drawn floral motif. Edo period, 19th Century. Dimensions: Height, 5.25 inches (13.2 cm) x Diameter, 6 inches (15cm) Condition is excellent, some iron spots on inside of lid and a "kami-kizu" (kiln flaw) on the inside of the foot rim .75 inches (2 cm) in length.

Japanese Blue & White porcelain ARITA, MAP DISH with a four character mark "Tempo Nen Sei," Edo period, 19th Century. Decorated in underglaze blue with a conceptual map of Japan bordered by labelled islands and sections of four other countries, the Land of the Dwarves, the Land of Women, the Ryukyu Kingdom and Korea, surrounded by seas and the ocean. Japanese porcelain underglaze porcelain Blue & White TRUMPET VASE with a Hoo bird and peony & other flowers design and a floral design inside the spreading mouth of the vase. Condition is fine, but there is a small "kami-kizu" or "kiln crack" about 1 inch or 2.5 cmm in length near the base. It is hardly noticeable. Circa: Late 17th C. Height is 9 5/8 inches or 24 cm. Purchased @ Christie's in London. Part of an exhibit in the Kyushu Ceramics Museum.

A small round open top HIRADO porcelain brush washer for the scholar's table. Molded in low relief shape of Hotei carrying his sack of goodies - underglaze blue highlights. Excellent condition, 1 5/8 " in height (4.2 cms) and 2.5" (6.4 cms.) in diameter. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or restorations. Circa: 1890-1920.

Japanese porcelain HIRADO "Koro," (incense burner) with reticulation all over the lid and body, a molded flower on the lid, underglaze Hirado blue decoration on the borders and lion mask handles, tripod legs. Height is 3.5" (9 cms.) and the diameter is 3 1/8" or 8 cms. Condition is excellent, no chips, cracks or restorations. Circa: 1890-1910, Meiji period.

Japanese "coral-glazed" porcelain VASE with a DRAGON chasing the flaming pearl of knowledge! Dynamic dragon in real silver with yellow & green overglaze enamels. Well potted, with no chips, cracks or frits. Excellent condition. There is an unknown studio kiln mark on the bottom (see pix #6) in the same coral color. Height is 4 inches, (or 10.1 cms) with a diameter of 3.5 inches (9 cms.) at the shoulder. Circa: late Taisho, perhaps early Showa.

Unusual Japanese porcelain figure of a Noh actor in a standing position with a fan just above his "pot-belly." Classic Kutani palette of mustard yellows, aquamarines, blues and black thick overglaze enamels. The skirted section of his costume decorated with sprays of reddish brown leaves - his coat is in black with yellow decorations. He stands in a very formal position and has a most serious demeanor to his expression - almost like he was posing for a photograph! Excellent condition, ...click for details
