Japanese Blue & White porcelain PLATE depicting a contended farmer under a wide brimmed hat, wearing his straw "raincoat," and his straw "zori," (sandals,) leaning on his hoe as he gazes at the oversize bamboo shoots in his bamboo grove! PAIR of Blue & White Japanese porcelain PLATES depicting an older Monk standing with a younger playful apprentice behind his back. All skillfully rendered in underglaze cobalt blue. There is a scrolling floral motif on the back of each plate. Condition: there is a rim chip on each plate, one with a resultant 3/4" hairline crack. Circa: Meiji era, 1868-1912.

LARGE 14.4 inch diameter JAPANESE Blue & White porcelain BOWL from the late Edo era.
This bowl which was made with the "lost-wax" method of design/glazing has a flying crane in the center surrounded with bird and floral catouches. There is a kiln mark on the back in underglaze blue. Because this

Japanese porcelain Blue & White CENSER (Koro) with a Phoenix in underglaze blue scrolling around the body which is . Two pieces, lid and body. Well potted and extremely well painted Phoenix. Taisho era, 1910-1920. Condition is good. Height is 3.75 inches or (9.5 cms) and diameter is 3 5/8 of an inch or (9.2 cms.)
Large (12 inches in height) KUTANI Japanese VASE with three cartouches, one with two kingfishers by a river and flowers, another a temple by the sea with mountains, and the last of fish underwater. The neck is decorated with phoenix birds and Buddhist symbols of scrolls. There is a Kutani mark on the bottom (see enlargement #4) Condition: some loss of decoration (color) on the neck and surrounding the cartouches.
No cracks or chips or hairlines.
Japanese "coral-glazed" porcelain VASE with a DRAGON chasing the flaming pearl of knowledge! Dynamic dragon in real silver with yellow & green overglaze enamels. Well potted, with no chips, cracks or frits.
Excellent condition. There is an unknown studio kiln mark on the bottom (see pix #6) in the same coral color. Height is 4 inches, (or 10.1 cms) with a diameter of 3.5 inches (9 cms.) at the shoulder. Circa:

Japanese porcelain underglaze Blue & White HIRADO Tsuiteki (water dropper) in a rare and unusual "donut shape," with a dragon in the clouds (ether) chasing the flaming (elusive) pearl of knowledge! Unusual Japanese porcelain figure of a Noh actor in a standing position with a fan just above his "pot-belly." Classic Kutani palette of mustard yellows, aquamarines, blues and black thick overglaze enamels. The skirted section of his costume decorated with sprays of reddish brown leaves - his coat is in black with yellow decorations. A pair of Japanese KUTANI porcelain BOWLS in "square form" (straight sides and rounded corners) with chrysanthemum and paulownia design. The green color at the top of the bowls, both inside and out is a type of "stipple," or 3 dimensional! Orange 3 letter Kanji mark on the bottoms. Circa 1900-1920. Condition is excellent, no chips, cracks, breaks or restorations. Dimensions are 5 inches in diameter and a 4.25 inch height.
Japanese IMARI DISH with a "Sho-chiku-bai" (pine, plum & bamboo) leaf center with a bamboo root and 4 Bats in orange on the border. Bright, vibrant colors, turquoise and yellows and greens with the cobalt blue underglaze. Handpainted scrolling floral design on the back in underglaze blue.
Condition: no chips or cracks or repairs, but the dish is a bit warped when it was fired in the kiln, (see enlargement #3)
