Japanese cast metal (single piece) Buddhist statue of BUDDHA in "Bodhyagri mudra," has a beautiful patina and fine details. Circa: 1900-1920. Height is 7 inches (17.8 cms.) and the width at base is 4.25 inches or 10.8 cms. Condition is excellent.

Japanese ceramic standing DHARUMA with his fly whisk in hand and clearly delineated facial features, covered in his priestly robes with his toes protruding. Great attention to detail, white glaze applied to his fingernails and toenails. Chest hair, bushy eyebrows and beard are all evident.The classic gauze on the base is pure Kutani. Condition is excellent, no chips, cracks, or fritting nor restorations. Height is 12 inches (30.5 cms.) Circa is late Meiji, 1900-1912 or early Taisho, 1912-1920.

Wonderfully detailed two (2) metal (silver and gold color in the eyes) sculpture of a rabbit sitting on his haunches.The forepaws are slightly crossed and the tail is upturned. Even though one of the ears was broken during transportation from Japan, it has been repaired and there is only a hairline crack which is hardly discernible,(see image #3) unless upon very close inspection. Height is 5.25 inches and overall length is 6.25" Circa is 1890-1910 Meiji era.

An EARTHENWARE PAIR of Japanese "Nomen" or Harvest Masks, worn after the rice harvest was collected to celebrate the bounty at a festival! Modeled similarly with bulging eyes, furrowed brows and flaring nostrils, the parinated surfaces simulating bronze. Very unusual. Circa: 19th Century. A Buddhist "Celestial Nymph" or "TENNYO" wood carving with gilt and gesso, with copper engraved medallions, from a Temple in western Honsho, near Nigata. This 1" thick carved cedar wood religious subject of a Buddhist "angel," playing a musical instrument was depicted as early as the 7th Century in Nara, painted on a wall in the Lady's quarters of the palace. Standing in agressive postures wearing armor and flowing robes, these hand-carved wooden NIO figures from Edo era in Japan have traces of polychroming and gesso. There is damage to the outer garments and the usual pitting/cracks that normally appear with pieces of this age.
