Large Burmese LACQUER WATER JAR, with Lid, all with small intricate detailed designs of houses and people and animals. Each time a color is added, it's an additional very time consuming process. There are 5 different colors in these paintings. These are made with thin strips of bamboo and saw dust for a shape and then the lacquer is added one layer at a time. A Large (10" in height x 10.75" diameter) 4 piece (2 Trays) BURMESE BEETLENUT BOX, in LACQUER with designs from the Burmese Zodiac! Even the sides and bottoms of the two inside trays are covered with colored designs. Burmese COVERED MONK'S BOWL with LID and INSIDE TRAY and Black lacquer STAND. This lacquerware bowl is not only beautifully proportioned, but it is made from WOVEN BAMBOO, rather than the typical COILED bamboo, which gives it more strength and beauty because the pattern is discernable under the layers of cinnabar lacquer! Burmese Lacquer TEA STRORAGE JAr with Lid, with a design motif of "ku-nan-kan-byat" or Yunnan semicircle design and 12 Zodiac animals incised in the rosettes. Cndition: This jar has seen wear. Some black lacquer is exposed where the orange-red has rubbed off with age and constant handling. The design on the top of the lid has also been eroded. Dimensions are 9" in height with a diameter of approx. 7.75" Circa: 1870-1920.
