Japanese VASE in square form with a circular top and butterflies. There are alternating dragons and Phoenix birds & peony flowers on the side panels on an orange background with some gold enamel!
There is a four character underglaze mark on the bottom. This vase was probably used for a single flower. Condition is perfect. Height is 4 inches (10 cms.) and width is 3.25 inches or (8.3 cms.) Circa: 1960's.
Set of three (3) Japanese NORITAKE porcelain Sake CUPS with Chinese characters in underglaze blue around the entire perimeter of each cup. Each cup has the "Noritake" kiln mark on the bottom! There is a "shibui" brown ring between two blue bands at the base. Condition is good, but there are a few small hairlines and a few very minute chips at the base (no chips on the drinking edge)
Two Red-crowned cranes (Japanese or Manchurian crane) Grus japonensis beautifully portrayed one standing on a rockery with pink peony flowers above the other with a river, pine tree and bamboo; with a cream floral brocade background. Well painted, some slight wrinkles in painting and mounting. Satisfaction guaranteed. Signed and seal marked. a beautifully framed THAILAND orange pastel stone rubbing of a CHIMERA (mythological creature who guards Buddhist temples) with a matching orange silk matt and imitation gold bamboo frame with glass. Wooden Japanese ABACUS for counting the "Oriental Way." 21 rows of 5 beads each and another one on the bottom. Good condition. Nice patina. Put together with wood pegs, no metal! An attractive conversation piece. Length is 14 inches x 3.75 inches. Circa 1930's.
Balinese DRAWING of UBUD MARKETPLACE, Bali, Indonesia, with an antique Japanese gilded wood frame and a cedar back. The etching is matted with triple-acid free paper in a soft muted tone. There is some damage (from excessive moisture/climate, in the lower right hand corner. The work is signed and dated, 1970 (see pix #4) Overall dimensions of frame are 28 inches x 24 inches or 71.1 cms x 60.9 cms.The glass is "glare-proof" glass. Very Shibui Rectangular woven Bamboo JAPANESE LETTER BOX with a removable COVER. Some slight damage to the corner of both the box and lid. (see pix #3 & 4) Patina is wonderful. Dimensions are 11.5 inches or 29 cms. x 8.5 inches or 22 cms. x 2.15 inches in depth or 5.5 cms. Circa: 1930's.
LArge BRASS BOWL (suitable for fruit) from the Indonesian Island of Java, with no design. Diameter is 10 1/8" at the rim and 5 3/4" diameter at the bottom. The height is 4 1/2". There is a "beaten metal" look to the sides with a small 1 1/2" crack near the bottom (see pix #5) which makes this bowl not suitable for liquids. Circa: 1930's.
Nogoro vermillion lacquerware Japanese VASE with an interior real gold wash! Exquisitely modeled and perfectly executed. This 10" in height VASE comes with the original kiriwood box, signed by the artist and seal marked. Circa, 1960's. Some discoloration to outside lacquer.
