This beautifully executed small porcelain dish was made as a presentation piece for a temple in Japan. It shows a Bodhisattvas meditating under a pine tree. In addition to blue and white, there is green and a lacquer red color as well. The foliated rim is in a dark brown wash. There is also a spurious Chinese six character reign for Wan Li (Ming Dynasty) 1573-1619. All this within a single blue circle (not double as in Chinese ceramics.) Taisho era, circa 1920-1939. A large (12 inches in height) Vase made by "Yamaji" in Japan, in baluster form, with two Asian flycatcher birds among the cherry blossoms. Gilt rim and ring around the foot. There is a very small chip in the rim and a resultant hairline crack (see enlargement #3)

Authentically reproduced in the same method as used 350 years ago; Japanese NABESHIMA "Kyo-yaki Kabin" (flower vase) in rectangular form with a triangular cut in the top; with four raised feet and kiln mark in underglaze blue on the bottom. Two Japanese ARITA porcelain "Suisaka" style flower VASES with a rich underglaze colbalt blue. One is slightly larger than the other, though the shape and glaze are the same. Condition of one is excellent, no chips, cracks or fritting.The second has some "potting flaws," around the lip. Height is about 6 inches. Circa: Edo era, 17th - 18th C. See Christie's, London, Sale # 5968, November 4, 2009, Lot # 264 for similar ceramic "flask."

Pair of KUTANI porcelain Sake cups with a kiriwood box with an inscription on the lid. One cup is decorated in strong masculine colors of Kutani dark green and black and yellow; the other is feminine with dark blue, black, yellow with white and pink cherry blossoms inside. This is a beautiful set that was owned by an older Japanese gentleman and not made for export. The cups are 1.33" in diameter x 1.25" in height. Condition: perfect. Circa: 1970's.

Japanese KUTANI porcelain CENSER (for burning incense)in Kutani greens, yellows and purples. Hexagonal in shape, tri footed, with 3 panels in a bird and floral motif, the other three in Kutani green with a subdued geometric design. The top has a filial of two juvenile animals. Kiln mark in underglaze green on base. Condition is perfect. Comes with a kiriwood box with the lid inscribed and stamped by the artist. Circa: 1950's-60's. Height is 6.25", diameter of base is 3 inches.

Japanese replica of a Chinese Song dynasty "CONG" porcelain VASE with a potter's mark impressed into the base (see pix #6, @ 5 o'clock) Beautiful pale glaze which is of a soft sea-green celadon color. Perfect condition. Very suitable for cut flowers! Height is 11 inches or 28 cms. width is 3 3/8" or 8.8 cms. Pre 1980.
