| Pair of Japanese Satsuma BOWLS with underglaze colbalt blue MYTHICAL ANIMALS inside cavetto. There is a "kara shishi," or lion-dog in the center, a "kirin," a "ryu" or dragon and a "hoo" or phoenix (bird) All with real gold accent marks painted in straiteted lines inside. The exterior is a scrolling peony design with lappets above the footrim. Condition inside is very good, but there is a very small repair to the rim of the larger bowl which is shown in the first image of these items. circa 1914. Height 4" x 9 and 2.5" x 7" | ||
