| Japanese porcelain underglaze Blue & White EWER with a ovoiform body and loop handle, the body decorated with floral designs(Camellia or "Botan") the neck with a continuation of the Camellia and other floral scrolling design and foliage at the shoulder and base bands of foliage, the handle with similar design. PROVENANCE: Purchased in London @ Christie's and exhibited at the Kyushu Ceramics Museum. See "Ko-Imari porcelain from the Collection of Oliver Impey," Barry Davis Oriental Art, Ltd. London, 1997, Plate 16, pg. 40 for similar ewer. Circa: late 17th Century, Edo. 1670. Height is 8.25 inches or 21 cm. Condition is good, no chips, flakes frits cracks or restorations. There is however, a small amount of "staining"(light brown color, see photos) on the inside of the mouth about 1 inch (2.54 cm) in length. Provenance: Kyushu Ceramics Museum, No. 99. | ||
