| This beautifully executed small porcelain dish was made as a presentation piece for a temple in Japan. It shows a Bodhisattvas meditating under a pine tree. In addition to blue and white, there is green and a lacquer red color as well. The foliated rim is in a dark brown wash. There is also a spurious Chinese six character reign for Wan Li (Ming Dynasty) 1573-1619. All this within a single blue circle (not double as in Chinese ceramics.) Taisho era, circa 1920-1939. Diameter = 4.75 inches. Perfect condition, no chips, pitting, or cracks/repairs. | |
