| Large Burmese LACQUER WATER JAR, with Lid, all with small intricate detailed designs of houses and people and animals. Each time a color is added, it's an additional very time consuming process. There are 5 different colors in these paintings. These are made with thin strips of bamboo and saw dust for a shape and then the lacquer is added one layer at a time. A very laborious hand-made process! There are even incised designs on the BOTTOM and the Top of the lid! Condition is good, although there is some wear to the colors as to be expected with lacquerware this age! Dimensions are 10 inches in height x 10" diameter at the shoulder. Circa: 1900-1920. | ||
