There were other artists working in this medium but the Komai family set the standards, thus the reference to this style of metal working. This piece is signed Made by Fujii on the underside. The interior with peonies issueing from openwork rocks, surrounded with dual borders of slanted hook shapes and floral leafs, with a later Dutch silver handle. A minute frit on the edge, professionally restored, and imperceptible. Underside with underglaze blue floral sprigs, dual circle and early symbol. Kangxi period. 8 1/2 inches in diameter.
