Mrs Thorne (!882-1940) was a Chicago socialite and designer of miniature rooms, with several in the Chicago Art Institute. This box form diorama of an English castle and figures, and Mrs Thorne's signature, would have been given to friends and charities. Along with the box is literature pertinent to Mrs Thorne and her work. Gilt paper with minute bent edges, and some loose particles evident in movement. 6.75" x 3.75" x 2.50"
