The round bulbous bases with a starburst and pinwheel cut glass pattern, surrounded by a diamond cut. The floral, honey combed sterling hinged lids with original glass stoppers. The one lid with an indentation ( photo 4) with little detriment,due to sterling pattern. London hallmarks, date letter for 1899, makers mark indiscernible. The size and duality of these pieces are of a decorative significance. 4.75 x 7 inches

Jean Alexander Tahan 1813-1892. Marked on the frame Tahan boul des Italiens (Boulevard des Italiens, Paris) It was at this prestigious address (1866-1878) where his specialty was boxes that he gained the favor of Napoleon III. The enameled surface of geometric design with raised jewels on the pale yellow ground. Set in a an ormolu frame with rocaille style side mounted legs. The interior relined. Good condition. 4 1/4 x 3 x 2 1/4 inches.
