Paper scrolling or quilling, an early reliquary art form pursued by religious orders in the 18thc. The piece showing the Virgin surrounded by gilt polychrome floral paper rolls. Left side appears more spacious due to the bow of the side of the old box it is in. The piece has been put in a new glass shadow box, showing some discoloration to fabric on the back of box. Good shape with age consideration. 18thc. 5 1/2' x 3 3/4" x 1 1/4"
