| Born in Wigan, England, studied in the studio of John Rathbone, and mastered the rudiments of formal landscape, which would be his hallmark for his dog and animal settings. He began exhibiting at the Royal Ac. 1799, Founding member of the Liverpool Ac. in 1812-13, and exhibited there. Represented in the Pebble Hill (So. Georgia) collection of major English artists.
