Magnificent 19th Century standing Mandalay Buddha, wood with lacquer patina and gilding, standing on a lotus flower socle. The slender body wears an elaborate monk's garment. Fine workmanship including a beautiful turquoise headband (rarely found) and silver colored glass inlays on the borders of the flowing robe and the lotus pedestal. Post Bayon Angkor Wat Bronze Guardian of the Godess UMA, 12th/13th Century. Found near Aranyaprathet, Eastern Thailand. Object was made by lost wax process/technique. Naturally formed/aged patina. Surface encrustations, malachite, azurite, manganese and calcite. Consistent with the period and location/environment of similar recorded pieces. Rare, good condition, no signs of repair/restoration or false patina.
