You are considering an extremely rare ancient biblical Iron Age pottery wine jug Dated from, 1000 BC The jug is outstanding in its excellent workmanship and decoration, a fine creation of the master potter in a period when pottery-making reached a peak of achievement The jug is well- proportioned, with a shaped mouth, graceful body and a ring base. The handle forms a bridge between the lip and the shoulder and is decorated with representation of crawling snake climbing the handle, its head perched on the lip. The snake motif was widely used in Canaanite art of the second millennium BC and was especially common as a decoration on jar-handles.
