| Traditional Ghalamzan (Carved Persian Metalwork) design. The forest animals and flowers design across the belly is a typical Iranian theme popular since the Qajar (Victorian) era.. Copper is carved in relief with a scalpel or pen-like tool. This particular vase has some amazingly fine detail, accented in tin. The scenes are formed into medallion repeats around the belly, with rings in foliate, and beaded designs ascending up the neck wth Moghul semi medallion accenting the dovetailed spout. Measuring 10 1/2", and nearly 5 3/4" at it's widest point, The opening is 2" across. Weighing 40 ounces before packing, this piece is unusually heavy. This piece is estimated to be made in Iran 60 to 100 years ago. | ||
