Pre-Columbian, Moche IV, figure with amputated arms
Culture: Moche -- Period: ca. 300 - 600 AD. -- Region: Peruvian North-Coast -- Size: h. 18 cm - 7 inch -- Description: Terracotta, stirrup-spouted figural vessel depicting a seated male with amputated arms, wearing a mushroom type headdress, a striped poncho and a satchel on the back. Double perforations in ears. Painted two-tone red-brown and pink-brown surface. -- Condition: Intact, very minor flake on spout, excellent condition -- Provenance: Ex- Estate of J-E. Lions, Swiss.
