For our first piece of Huichol art, we have chosen a nice little (12x12) unframed beauty titled 'Chamanes en Manda.' Probably made sometime in the late 20th century-we received it in the early 90's, this piece is Signed by the artist- Rogelio Benitez Torres, with a dictated poem in a woman's hand on the back. This poem addresses the need to make offerings to the gods, and invokes the image of the deer and the 'aguila real' or 'royal eagle.' Both of these figures ...click for details
