An excellent Nicoya tripod vessel from Costa Rica, ca. 1000 – 1350 AD. This excellent Papagayo urn is 10-1/4” high and features a beautifully sculpted jaguar molded to the front of the chamber. The broad band decorating the upper half of the vessel depicts a pair of stylized feline creatures, with linear décor adorning the rim. The hollow legs contain rattles. Overall in excellent condition, with vivid paint, good mineral deposits and root marks.

A wonderful Nayarit dog effigy from West Mexico, ca. 50 BC – 200 AD. This choice Chinesco type is 5" long and is covered with white kaolin slip, which shows good mineral deposits. The appendages project from the sides of the jar, giving the appearance of a dog in flight. Intact.

An excellent Nazca polychrome bowl from Peru, ca. 450 – 500 AD. This deep Phase 5 bowl is 7-1/2” in diameter and has an interior decorated with a depiction of the Horrible Bird with Outspread Wings. The creature is portrayed clutching two trophy heads in its beak, the wings consist of trophy heads and tabular snakes, with a large frontal trophy head symbolizing a breechcloth between the avian style legs. An excellent Olmecoid – Proto Maya figure from Chalchuapa, El Salvador, ca. 1000 – 500 BC. This superb seated figure is 3-1/2” high and is portrayed with the hands resting on crossed legs, which are fully formed on the underside. She is adorned with large ear spools and an appliqué headdress. The overall posture clearly shows the Las Bocas style Olmec influence on this area.

An excellent Colima figure from West Mexico, ca. 300 BC – 300 AD. This lovely seated female is 7” high and depicts a rotund individual adorned with large ear spools. The rounded position of the arms is reminiscent of earlier Formative styles. The red slip is highly burnished and shows good mineral deposits. An adorable example with great presence and just a minor repair to the back.

A Post-Classic Maya deity effigy vessel from Mexico, ca. 1000 AD. It is 6-1/2" high and depicts a kneeling dog deity with a pronounced spinal column and long tail. The piece retains areas of stucco coating, which has remnants of painted designs executed in more of a Mixtec style, making it highly likely that this is a rare ancestral piece, passed through generations of ownership. In excellent condition, with rattles in the hollow legs.

A choice Inca ceremonial pitcher from Peru, ca. 1300 – 1500 AD. This finely made vessel is 4-1/4” high and is decorated with two bands of geometric designs painted in black over the highly burnished red slip. The broad strap handle is decorated with a variety of linear designs and shows sign of extensive usage.

A marvelous Maya cylinder from the Peten region of Guatemala, ca. 400 – 700 AD. This thin-walled beauty features two incised renditions of Chaac the rain God, highlighted in blood red. These primary panels are separated by blocks of glyphs, with a series of three glyphs decorating the broad rim band. Brilliant colors, strong mineral deposits.

A fine Tlatilco figure from Mexico, ca. 1200 – 500 BC. This nice D2 type is 5-1/4” high and has incised designs on the front and back of the elongated head that are highlighted with red pigment. Chipped left foot, else intact with good mineral deposits. Mounted on stand.
