A lovely Chinesco figure from Nayarit, West Mexico, ca. 300 BC – 200 AD. This adorable female figure is 4” high, is depicted seated and is supporting a large bowl on her left shoulder. The highly burnished red slip is enhanced with paint to indicate facial features, clothing and jewelry. Rare type in excellent condition, good mineral deposits.

An excellent Nazca figural effigy from Peru, ca. 300 – 500 AD. It is 7-1/4” high and depicts a female cargador. She is posed seated, with legs crossed and hands held to the chest. A large cargo basket is supported with slings crossed over her forehead, her fingers are bound and one hand appears to be bleeding. The overall dark tones may indicate a nighttime scene portraying an exhausted laborer not yet done with the day’s chores. ...click for details

A lovely Moche I bottle from Peru, ca. 50 BC – 100 AD. This finely made vessel is 6-1/2” high and is decorated with four connected designs typically identified as stylized stingrays. They are painted in chestnut red over cream kaolin slip, with extensive mineral deposits overall. An early example in excellent condition, with just the minor surface loss typical of vessels with this slip.

An awesome Lambayeque (Sican) whistle vessel from Peru, ca. 700 – 1300 AD. This complex creation is 7-3/4” high and portrays an individual standing atop a large pile of vessels, most likely stacked ollas containing chicha for a celebration. He is wearing a huge headdress associated with the solar deity and is holding a pair of people under his arms. Painted overall with the characteristic cream slip and highlighted with red stripes. A large Narino polychrome vessel from Colombia, ca. 750 – 1250 AD. This fine Piartal cultural complex example from the Highlands is 9” in diameter and is decorated with designs broken into quadrants. The upper section of the chamber is covered with geometric and linear designs. Lovely colors, strong mineral deposits and just a stabilized hairline short of perfect.

A choice Maya carved cylinder from the Motagua Valley of Guatemala, ca. 400 – 800 AD. It is 6” high, 4” in diameter and is decorated with four deeply carved panels, as well as a broad rim band of highly detailed glyphs. Two of the panels depict a Vision Serpent, the other two are complex woven mat designs. Intact, nicely burnished, strong mineral deposits.
