A large Colima saucer-shape olla from West Mexico, ca. 300 BC – 300 AD. It is 11” in diameter, 6” high and is decorated with four panels of 24 raised dots. The deep red slip is highly burnished and shows extensive mineral deposits. A professionally restored stress crack is barely visible, else in excellent condition. An elegant form.

A rare Salinar Portrait vessel from Peru, ca. 200 BC – 100 AD. This beautifully detailed vessel is 7-1/2” high and depicts an individual adorned with appliqué ear ornaments. His facial features are molded in high relief and the face is extensively incised with a variety of geometric and zoomorphic designs, which, along with the spout, clearly show the Chavinoid roots emulated by early Salinar artisans. Intact, good mineral deposits.

A spectacular Jalisco zoomorphic vessel from West Mexico, ca. 200 BC - 350 AD. It is 7-1/2" high, 7-3/4" long and the bowl is 8" in diameter and is most likely intended to depict an armadillo carrying a large bowl on its back. A rare Moche IV deity effigy from Peru, ca. 450 – 550 AD. This fine sculpture is 9-1/2” high and depicts Ai Apaec with the face of an owl. He is portrayed seated with hands resting on the knees and is wearing a layered mantle. In excellent condition, with good kaolin slip and mineral deposits. Cf. Larco-Hoyle “Los Mochicas II”, page 347, for similar from the Herrera Museum.

A wonderful Nayarit figure from West Mexico, ca. 200 BC – 300 AD. This superb San Sebastian style male is 11-1/2” high and is posed seated on a two-legged stool. He is depicted with one hand held to his mouth in an apparent eating gesture. His coif is delicately incised and flows down the center of his back. He is adorned with the characteristic multiple ear ornaments and retains resist décor and painted clothing on his body. Intact, with good mineral deposits.

A fine Nicoya polychrome urn from Costa Rica, ca. 1100 – 1500 AD. This choice Pataky Polychrome type is 9-3/4” high and is decorated with the characteristic design bands, executed in black and red over cream slip. The primary band at the top of the chamber consists of stylized jaguars, topped by a band of claw designs at the rim. The remainder of the decorative bands all relate to the primary man-jaguar motif. A fine Maya Chiefs bowl from El Salvador, ca. 400 – 800 AD. This lovely carinated example is 8" in diameter and depicts seven seated lords making an offering. The interior has four vultures, each with speaking symbol, surrounding a central Lamat glyph, which represents the eighth day of the ceremonial calendar and is associated with the Heavenly Dragon. A nice example with vivid paint, strong mineral deposits and just a minor repair.

This double-chambered example is 5-1/4” high, 8-1/2” wide and features a beautifully detailed depiction of one of the Old Gods.
