A spectacular Jalisco zoomorphic vessel from West Mexico, ca. 200 BC - 350 AD. It is 7-1/2" high, 7-3/4" long and the bowl is 8" in diameter and is most likely intended to depict an armadillo carrying a large bowl on its back. Its nicely detailed head has a playfully expressive face, with protruding tongue. These vessels were important objects in the burial rituals of the elite. A rare Moche IV deity effigy from Peru, ca. 450 – 550 AD. This fine sculpture is 9-1/2” high and depicts Ai Apaec with the face of an owl. He is portrayed seated with hands resting on the knees and is wearing a layered mantle. In excellent condition, with good kaolin slip and mineral deposits.

A wonderful Nayarit figure from West Mexico, ca. 200 BC – 300 AD. This superb San Sebastian style male is 11-1/2” high and is posed seated on a two-legged stool. He is depicted with one hand held to his mouth in an apparent eating gesture. His coif is delicately incised and flows down the center of his back. He is adorned with the characteristic multiple ear ornaments and retains resist décor and painted clothing on his body. Intact, with good mineral deposits.

A marvelous Maya ceremonial vessel from the Tiquisate region of Guatemala, ca. 400 – 700 AD. This double-chambered example is 5-1/4” high, 8-1/2” wide and features a beautifully detailed depiction of one of the Old Gods. The cream slip shows extensive remains on negative resist décor and is covered with strong mineral deposits. Intact, with strong mineral deposits.

An adorable Jalisco figure from West Mexico, ca. 1 – 250 AD. This seated Cuisillos style male is 3-3/4" high and is depicted clutching the knees and balancing a large bowl on his head. The facial features are unusually expressive for a smaller figure. Nice paint remnants, strong calcification and mineral deposits.

A rare Moche deity head vessel from Peru, ca. 400 – 700 AD. This superbly detailed example is 5-1/4” high, 6-1/2” wide and portrays an owl deity. The curved beak is surrounded by piercing eyes and reptilian heads are used as ear ornaments. Minor restoration of rim chips, else in excellent condition, with strong mineral deposits.

An adorable Colima avian vessel from West Mexico, ca. 250 BC – 300 AD. This wonderful Comala style effigy vessel is 6-1/2” high, 7” wide and depicts a pair of conjoined ducks. They are nicely detailed, with wings on the sides and two-tone red slip. An excellent example of the type, highly burnished, with nice mineral deposits evident.

A beautiful Colima gadrooned squash vessel from West Mexico, ca. 300 BC – 300 AD. This lovely Comala type is 14” in diameter, 9” high and is supported on a trio of parrot legs. The rich red slip is highly burnished and shows good mineral deposits. A great example with just minor restoration.

An excellent Chimu Toyo effigy vessel from Peru, ca. 1100 – 1450 AD. This choice grayware example is 7-1/4” high, 7-1/2” long and depicts a type of guitarfish indigenous to the waters off Peru. It is nicely detailed, with the mouth and gills molded on the underside. In excellent condition, with strong mineral deposits.
