A wonderful Jalisco dog effigy from West Mexico, ca. 300 BC – 350 AD. This beautifully executed sculpture is 4-3/4” wide, 3-1/4” high and depicts a female with her puppy. Her facial features are superbly detailed and highly expressive, exuding love and happiness. The scene is one I have seen played out many times with my own dogs. The cream slip shows extensive mineral deposits. Perfect.

An exceptional Moche figure from Peru, ca. 400 – 700 AD. This elaborately adorned female is 7-1/2" high and is posed standing, with arms molded in relief across the chest. She is adorned with a segmented collar and large ear ornaments. Her facial features are enhanced with paint, which is also used to show her clothing and headdress. In excellent condition, with good mineral deposits.

A rare Chimu zoomorphic griton effigy from Peru, ca. 1100 – 1450 AD. The Chimu typically portrayed mucas in this manner, although other Pre-Columbian cultures depicted these screamers in human form, as well as a variety of other animals. This example is 6-1/2” high and is depicted in an unusual position for Chimu gritones, with the legs molded in high relief along the chamber. An excellent Nazca figural effigy from Peru, ca. 300 – 500 AD. It is 7-1/4” high and depicts a female cargador. She is posed seated, with legs crossed and hands held to the chest. A large cargo basket is supported with slings crossed over her forehead, her fingers are bound and one hand appears to be bleeding. This complex creation is 7-3/4” high and portrays an individual standing atop a large pile of vessels, most likely stacked ollas containing chicha for a celebration. This choice Ixtlan del Rio drummer is 4-3/4” high and is depicted standing behind a large drum, with his toes tucked under the rim of the instrument. He is adorned with a pointed hat, necklace, ear ornaments and bracelets. Paint is used to create extensive clothing and facial tattoos.
