A rare Lambayeque (Sican) erotic vessel from Peru, ca. 700 1350 AD. This beautifully burnished orangeware bottle is 8-1/2 high and depicts a couple making love. They are portrayed on a decorated blanket or cushion and the male has an unusually expressive face. The chamber has simple decorations and the flared base is incised with the typical step pyramid designs. In excellent condition, with good mineral and burial deposits.

A lovely Chinesco figure from Nayarit, West Mexico, ca. 50 BC - 200 AD. This seated female is 8-1/4" high and is depicted with legs spread and diminutive arms held to her waist. The legs are elaborately decorated and textile panels adorn her chest and back. Her face shows extensive d้cor and much of the orange wash once covering the white slip still remains. Intact, with just minor losses to the ears.

A wonderful Maya Portrait jar from the Tiquisate area of Guatemala, ca. 400 800 AD. This classic example is 5-3/4 high and depicts an individual wearing large ear ornaments and a labret. It is finished with the highly burnished orange-cream slip characteristic for the fine ceramics from this region. Intact, with good mineral deposits and root marks, stabilized hairline. Strong presence.

A beautiful Maya figural vessel from El Salvador, ca. 600 - 900 AD. This 6-1/2" high "Reinita" (Little Queen) jar is adorned with the traditional headdress, ear ornaments and elaborate necklace. She depicts a princess and the object in her mouth represents a piece of jade, which would be placed in the mouth as part of the burial ceremony, indicating that this vessel was a funerary object belonging to a deceased individual. A fine Moche V temple vessel from Peru, ca. 550 700 AD. This rare architectural effigy is 7-1/4 high and depicts a temple seated atop a platform with an encircling walkway. A serpent with deer ears is wrapped around the building, with its head resting on the roof. An unusual Jalisco zoomorphic vessel from West Mexico, ca. 200 BC - 300 AD. It is 8-1/4 long and depicts an animal, perhaps a deer, standing on four feet. The tail forms a second spout, perhaps a mouthpiece for drinking or ingesting hallucinogenic substances. The highly burnished red slip of the body is decorated with a pair of serpents, painted in orange. In excellent condition, with good dendrites.

The rounded position of the arms is reminiscent of earlier Formative styles. The red slip is highly burnished and shows good mineral deposits.
