A massive Nayarit figure from West Mexico, ca. 200 BC – 300 AD. This superb Ixtlan del Rio male figure is 15-3/4” high and is depicted standing. He is adorned with a beautifully decorated headdress, enormous nose ornament, painted necklaces and the characteristic multiple ear ornaments. The teeth are incised into the open mouth. A matching pair of Gallinazo-Viru shell shell effigies from Peru, ca. 1 – 100 AD. These lovely vessels are 6-1/2” high, 5” in diameter and are decorated with fine negative resist painted designs. The orange slip is burnished and shows light mineral deposits. Both are in exceptional condition. Matched pairs are rare, especially with individually modeled Viru ceramics.

An exceptional Gallinazo-Viru single-spout bottle from Peru, ca. 1 - 100 AD. This unusual avian form has a 6" diameter and depicts a duck. The head is finely formed, with details deeply incised, the wings and tail feathers are molded in high relief or added as appliqués. In excellent condition, with mineral deposits creating a wonderful texture on the nicely burnished slip. Rare type!

A rare Chavin portrait jar from Peru, ca. 1200 – 200 AD. This outstanding Cupisnique type example is 4-1/2” in diameter and depicts an individual with an incised coif surrounding the chamber. The incisions are highlighted with red pigment. The slightly asymmetrical facial features are created by hand modeling and skillful appliqué workmanship, the combination of which result in a face that is unusually expressive for the type. In exceptional condition.

An adorable Colima avian vessel from West Mexico, ca. 250 BC – 300 AD. This wonderful Comala style effigy vessel is 6-1/2” high, 7” wide and depicts a pair of conjoined ducks. They are nicely detailed, with wings on the sides and two-tone red slip. An excellent example of the type, highly burnished, with nice mineral deposits evident. A set of Chimu silver uncas from Peru, ca. 1100 - 1450 AD. These rare silver ornaments with repouse designs were used to decorate the mantles of members of the elite. There is a total of 14, the large rectangular pieces range from 2-1/2" to 3-3/4" in length, the round ones are 2-1/4" in diameter and the small ones are 1-1/4" long.
