An ornately attired Moche figure from Peru, ca. 400 – 700 AD. It is 7” high and depicts an individual wearing an ornately decorated mantle, large ear ornaments and a segmented necklace. His facial features are finely detailed, he is sporting a beard and jaunty mustache and has a perforated nose. In exceptional condition, with strong paint and good mineral deposits.

An excellent Lambayeque (Sican) zoomorphic vessel from Peru, ca. 700 - 1350 AD. It is 5-1/2" long and depicts a feline (probably a puma) devouring the head of a prisoner. As the mouth of the prisoner is wide open in an eternal scream, it really represents the entire person, whose arms are shown under the head. The rope around his neck is actually executed in the form of a serpent, dragging him into the Underworld. A fine Nazca jar from Peru, ca. 200 – 300 AD. This excellent polychrome example is 6” high, 4-1/4” in diameter and features the “Unmasked Serpentine Creature”. The head of this mythical creature is that of a Pampas cat, which is combined with a serpentine body with scalloped edges. Vivid paint and good mineral deposits. Cf. Proulx “Sourcebook of Nasca iconography”, page 95.

An excellent Chancay canteen from Peru, ca. 1100 – 1450 AD. This nicely decorated vessel is 8-3/4” high and has two broad strap handles connecting the spout and chamber. The entire vessel is extensively painted with traditional geometric and linear designs, executed in chocolate brown over cream slip and shows good mineral deposits.
