Aztec Ceremonial Censor

An awesome Aztec ceremonial censor from Mexico, ca. 1300 - 1500 AD. It is 18-1/4 long and has a handle terminating in a nicely detailed jaguar head. The head retains extensive remnants of post-firing stucco/pigment and the burnished slip shows strong mineral deposits and dendrites overall. The bowl at the end of the heavy handle is 6-1/2 in diameter. Intact, powerful presence.
