Moche III Bean Bottle
An important Moche III stirrup bottle from Peru, ca. 200 – 450 AD. This fantastic example is 7-1/4" high and is covered with spotted beans that represent a written language utilizing pictographs to communicate messages. The spots and disposition of these beans were used to narrate historical events.

See Hoyle “Los Mochicas I”, page 163-166, for a similar vessel and extensive details.
