A fine and rare pair of French Paris porcelain urns, with grisaille (or monochrome) decorations, circa 1790, attributed to the Clignancourt factory and almost certainly painted by Georges Lamprecht with lids that depict Roman warriors and battle scenes which imaginably evoke the military campaigns of Napoleon Bonaparte. A very fine French Paris Porcelain Corbeille or Fruit Basket from the first quarter of the nineteenth with an Empire Matte Blue Royal ground and very rich gilding. This piece is of Navette or "bateau" form and is in immaculate condition, with no chips or repairs whatsoever. The reticulation of the basket was meant to circulate air in order to preserve fruit, served after dinner. French, circa 1800-1825. Height is 8, Length is 10 1/4, Width is 5 1/2.

A very fine set of French First Empire Porcelain, circa 1804, bearing the signature of the Schoelcher factory. The vast majority of French nineteenth century porcelains, commonly called "Old Paris" are not authored. The workshop of Marc Schoelcher was active at various locations during the years 1798-1834. The Schoelchers had a prominent salesroom on "Boulveard des Italiens" in Paris. Marc Schoelcher was born in 1766 in Fessen-heim, and came to Paris about 1789. He was not on ...click for details
