A very stylish French Louis XV Style Silver Plate Two Arm Bouillotte Lamp with a Dark Green Tole Shade. Height Overall 20, Width of shade is 12 1/2. Late nineteenth century. Silver plated Bouilotte Lamps are very rare. This one has wonderful patination with a pineapple finial and the shades adjusts as one would expect.

A rare pair a French Directoire “Style” Bouillotte Lamps with Tole Shades and Ormolu Mounts, appendages, and pierced “dish” bases with three candle arms. The name “bouilotte” is derived from a card game popular in the French Directoire Period (1795-1799) and French Empire Era (1799-1815). The lamps were usually employed to illuminate tables for card playing in the late day and were very mobile as they generally were topped with a ring finial.
