This desks' form is derived from German and French variations of a "secretaire a battant" and has a folding writing desk that contains many inner compartments. The drawers of the interior are a light-colored wood, most likely maple. Exuberant and functional, the lower two doors open to reveal additional drawer space, and slots, meant to hold documents of sheet music. A number of related desks, attributed to J.B. A truly remarkable American Classical portrait miniature of Hiram Plummer of Boston, in its original frame, circa 1810-1820. The portrait is in an exceptional state of preservation, bearing no flakes, warping or chips. A very fine and rare southern Pembroke mahogany and inlaid Pembroke table, circa 1790-1795, attributed to Norfolk, Virginia, with sash or ovalo top corners. The table is in a remarkable state of preservation, containing no major repairs, flaws or serious repairs. The two bass oval and post and bale pulls, though similar to what was originally on the table, have been replaced in the same pocket screw holes, as did the originals. A Virginia or Maryland, late Neo-classical mahogany four post bed, circa 1815-1820, acquired directly from an Eastern, North Carolina collection, with sublime proportions. A very rare and uncommon pair of French gilt bronze Rococo Henry II period candlestick, with the original removable bobeches for ease of wax cleaning. This unthinkably uncommon pair are in a remarkable state of preservation, retaining their original gilded surfaces. Ornate, nicely decorated, and visually very appealing. Heavy. The pair weigh approximately 2 1/2 pounds, despite their relatively short height.

An amazing untouched American Federal mahogany Pembroke table, attributed to Joseph B. Barry of Philadelphia, circa 1805. This refined table is one of the earliest known examples of Barrys work after he moved to Philadelphia in 1794, after immigrating from Ireland to America in the late eighteenth century.
